Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to be Disabled and/or Deaf to enter the D Center or attend D Center events?
A: Nope! You do not have to identify as Disabled and/or Deaf to be a part of our community. We welcome people of all identities into our space, whether you are an ally, questioning, or are proudly Disabled and/or Deaf, as long as you are not making others feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

Q: What can I do at the D Center?
A: You are welcome to use our space as a study room, a place to rest, or interact with others! We have comfortable furniture, study supplies, snacks and drinks, library space, coloring books, and more. You are also welcome to come in and ask questions about resources, accommodations, and more. We’d be happy to direct you to any resources you need.
Q: Can the D Center provide accommodations for my classes?
A: We do not handle academic or classroom accommodations. UW’s Disability Resources for Students (DRS) should be able to help you out, though!

Q: Can I advertise my event, research, or opportunity in the D Center?
A: Yes! If you are holding an event that is relevant and not harmful to the Disabled and/or Deaf audience, we would be happy to advertise your event in our spaces. Feel free to drop a flyer off at our physical location at HUB 327. Alternatively, you can email us with the details or send us a message on Instagram if you would like us to advertise it in our digital spaces. This can include our Instagram page, email subscribers, Discord server, and so on.
If you are looking to advertise your research, job posting, volunteer call, or a similar opportunity, we ask that you head on over to our Research and Opportunities page to read our guidelines and process on promoting these types of advertisements.

Q: Can someone from the D Center come to my panel/tabling/event?
A: Yes! We appreciate the opportunity to advertise our services at events. However, attendance is contingent on staff availability, as events like this might fall outside of the D Center’s open hours. Please email Dcenter@uw.edu with more information and we will get back to you shortly!
Q: Can I use the D Center for my event?
A: Yes! Depending on the availability of our student staff, we would love to host any events that center the Disabled and/or Deaf experience in our space.
The D Center, its programming, and amenities are all sponsored by the Husky Union Building, Services and Activities Fee, and the Student Tech Fee.
