| Portland, OR (12th Ave Green Street) This series of stormwater planters in Portland, Oregon collects and treats stormwater before it is discharged into the Willamette River.  It is a great example of how stormwater can be treated and landscape spaces can be incorporated into an urban environment.  The stormwater planters are designed to infiltrate 8,000 sq ft of street runoff and are effective in treating water while preserving smooth pedestrian circulation and on-street parking.  One challenge for the 12th Avenue planters was designing this small eight-foot wide space to fit pedestrian traffic, on-street parking, landscaping, and the stormwater planters. However, despite this constraint, the SW 12th Avenue Green Street Project received a national award of honor from the American Society of Landscape Architects.
