Applicability
Porous paving is a replacement for conventional hard paving surfaces provided that slope, infiltration rate, ground water table conditions and subsoil drainage characteristics are suitable. This alternative method of paving is most successful in pedestrian and bicycle areas, light traffic areas such as overflow parking, and road shoulder areas. The slope should be less than 5%, and the infiltration rate should be at least .25 inches per hour. The minimum depth to bedrock and seasonally high water table should be at 3 feet.
