Applicability
King County Parks has found many uses for plastic lumber including landscape timbers, bollards, bench slats, etc. Plastic lumber is a very versatile product and can be a suitable substitute for treated lumber, especially where the wood product needs replacement.

Recycled lumber resides in the category of engineered wood making it more stable, consistent, straight, strong, and precise than dimensional lumber. Thus, recycled plastic lumber is easier to work with. It is also helpful in joist and rafter construction because it can span greater lengths with less bowing or lateral shifting.

Recycled lumber drastically minimizes the amount of waste created in processing the raw materials. Waste wood and entire trees, regardless of species, shape, and age, can be used in making these products.
