Fauchea laciniata J. Agardh

FFauchea laciniata J. Agardh

I first saw Fauchea laciniata while sitting in a lecture at Friday Harbor Labs. I thought it was the most beautiful alga I had ever seen. I immediately became curious in this species and decided to research this alga for my Marine Botany final project. Not much research has been done on subtidal reds and it was difficult to find good references, but I was up for the challenge. I ended up discovering some pretty fascinating things about this mysterious species. Hopefully this information and research will intrigue you as much as it did me. In the words of my classmates, "that blue, shiny stuff" is something truly wonderful.
