Seagrass is a valuable nearshore resource. Seagrass provides critical habitat for a number of marine and estuarine animals, it enhances sediment stabilization and improves water quality. In recent years, there has been a significant decline in the distribution of the common eelgrass - Zostera marina Linnaeus. The purpose of this website is to further our knowledge and understanding of Z. marina and its importance to our marine ecosystem.
