What is a summer Portuguese STEM program like?

This video from the 2017 STARTALK Portuguese Student Program will give you a flavor of the location (University of Washington campus and Language Learning Center) and the students and some of the activities. (The STARTALK program made two trips to the Museum of Flight; those won’t be part of the GenCyber program.)

About

The University of Washington Language Learning Center (LLC) in collaboration with the UW Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (CIAC), and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies is offering a unique summer camp that combines the areas of cybersecurity and language education in Portuguese for high school students. This 2021 program is funded by the U.S. National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation. Participants will explore the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) Cybersecurity Workforce Framework and resources such as Cyberseek.org. These resources will introduce students to the incredible demand and opportunities the field offers, as well as the diversity of sub-disciplines they might pursue. The ‘Essentials of Cybersecurity’ series ends with a module on ‘Finding Your Cybersecurity Career Path’ and then helps the student construct their ‘Job Outlook’.
