INDICES, LISTS AND VARIOUS SUB-CLASSIFICATIONS
(of the romancero as a whole, or of the ballad texts available in the online
archive)

On the Romancero tradition:
- CATALOG NUMBERS:
Cross-reference the various
catalog numbers used to identify any ballad in
commonly cited XIXth-XXth cent. catalogs (Primavera, Goyri,
Moñino, Armistead's CMP, Costa Fontes, González, etc.).
- TITLE or IGRH NUMBERS: List of Hispanic ballads (ancient and modern),
ordered by title or by their unique IGRH numbers.
- ALTERNATE TITLES: List of
Other Common Titles for Hispanic ballads (ancient
and modern), in all languages and including First Verses, referenced to the Standardized Titles used in this Project.
- PAN-EUROPEAN TITLES: Alphabetical listing of
Pan-European Titles, cross-referenced to their Pan-Hispanic congeners.
- THEMATIC
CATEGORIES: Consult a list of ballads classified by major thematic categories (Carolingian,
with national, historical reference [subclassified: Cid ballads, Trastámara period, period of the Catholic Kings, etc.], biblical ballads, etc.).
- CONTAMINATIONS (BORRROWING): Identify modern historical ballads
which borrow narrative/poetic material from other
ballads.
- CONTAMINATIONS (LENDING): Identify modern historical ballads which
lend narrative/poetic material to other
ballads.
- PROTAGONISTS: Identify ballads with a common protagonist (those
involving an historical or legendary figure).
- MOTIF INDEXES: Index of Folk Motifs in the Pan-Hispanic
Ballad. Enhanced, online implementations of Harriet
Goldberg's Stith Thompson-based Motif-Index of Folk Narratives in the
Pan-Hispanic Romancero.
Index I: Retrieve a
list of all ballads which make use of a particular motif (motifs by
category → ballads).
Index II: Alphabetical
Index of motifs (motifs → ballads).
Index III:
Retrieve a list of all motifs present in any Hispanic ballad (ballads
→ motifs).
- PRINT SOURCE(S): Identify the documentary sources
(romanceros, cancioneros and pliegos) of
ballads that appeared before the XVIIth century.
- JOURNAL ACRONYMS: Key to journal acronyms used in the
Bibliography.
On the Ballad Texts in the Online Archive:
- BALLAD TITLE INDEX:
Generate an index of ballads currently available in the online database (unique
titles list).
- BALLAD TITLE+METER INDEX: Generate a list of
ballads currently available online, using assonance as well as title to identify unique ballads.
- IGRH NUMBERS: Generate an index of ballads currently
available online, ordered sequentially by their unique IGRH numbers.
- THEMATIC CATEGORIES: Retrieve versions of ballads that
correspond to certain major thematic categories (Carolingian ballads, ballads with national, historical reference
[subclassified: Cid ballads, Trastámara period, period of the Catholic Kings, etc.], biblical ballads,
etc.).
- MOTIF INDEX: Index of Folk Motifs in the Pan-Hispanic
Ballad. Enhanced, online implementations of
Harriet

- INDEX OF REFRAINS: Generate an index of
the estribillos currently in the ballads in the online database.
- INDEX OF INVOCATIONS: Generate an index of the invocations
currently used as the opening verses of ballads in the online database.
- COUNTRY LIST: Consult a list of countries currently
represented in the online database
- SAMPLE TEXTS: Retrieve a single version of each
ballad currently stored in the online archive. To retrieve a single version of a particular ballad, select this option
on the standard title search.
- BALLADS NOT PRESENT: Alphabetical list of ballads NOT
currently represented in the online archive. Same list ordered by IGRH numbers.
