Archana Shrestha

Cardiometabolic Research and Training Program PI

Dr. Archana Shrestha is Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health at Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences. She also holds an Adjunct Professor position in the Department of Chronic Diseases Epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health. She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington in 2015. She is interested in developing, testing, and implementing preventive interventions to reduce the impact of non-communicable disease epidemics in low-income countries. She has been involved in community based health program development, implementation, research and education in Nepal, India, Mexico, and South Africa for the last ten years. She conceived and is working as a co-PI in Dhulikhel Heart Study; a large population based longitudinal study on cardiovascular diseases in Nepal. She is also leading a translational research to prevent diabetes through dietary modification in worksites of Nepal; .and Co-Director of the NHLBI T32 training grant on translational research capacity building to address cardiovascular diseases in Nepal. She serves as a country director – Nepal for the North Pacific Global health Research Fellows Training in collaboration with the University of Washington.
