Biraj Neupane, BS, is a recent MPH graduate in the Cardiometabolic Research and Training Program at the UW, funded by the Fogarty International Training Center.  He started his professional career at the Dhulikhel Hospital- Kathmandu University Hospital as a Research Assistant for the Dhulikhel Heart Study (Cohort Study). Currently Mr. Neupane is a health services coordinator for a rural health care program at the Department of Community where he oversees 1 rural hospital, 17 rural health clinics, and coordinates research and public health activities. His research interests include environmental exposure and health outcomes, especially related to cardiovascular disease, and he is working on establishing a rural health monitoring program focusing on cardio-metabolic diseases. His thesis title is, “Cardiometabolic Risk Factors Among Rural and Non-Rural Adults in Nepal,” and his primary mentors were Dr. Annette Fitzpatrick (UW), Dr. Christopher T. Longenecker (UW), Dr. Archana Shrestha (KU), and Dr. Biraj Karmacharya (KU).
