Hellen Moraa Okinyi, BSN,is an MPH student in the INTEGRATE/IARTP Program at the University of Washington (UW), funded by the NIH/Fogarty International Center. She started her research career at the University of Nairobi/Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) as a study coordinator for the Optimizing HIV-1 therapy (OPH) and Pediatric urgent start of HAART (PUSH) trials. Currently Ms. Moraa works as a coordinator for a HOPE study and oversees study activities in seven sites. She also supports several qualitative studies through planning and undertaking data collection and analysis. Her research interests include improving pediatric and adolescent HIV outcomes and scalable mental health interventions. In her current work with the HOPE study, one of the objectives of the study is to develop a neurodevelopment and mental health population-based screening package for HIV-exposed uninfected children and adolescents. She also has a keen interest in qualitative research methods. Her primary mentors are Prof. Gabrielle O’Malley (UW) and Prof. Dalton Wamalwa (UoN).
