Irene Maeri, MPS

Irene Maeri, MPS, is a second-year MPH student in the Women and HIV/IARTP Program at the UW, funded by the Fogarty International Center. Ms. Maeri is a social scientist at Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). She has qualitative research experience across the disciplines of population studies and behavioral science. Ms. Maeri is currently an investigator and study coordinator overseeing the implementation of research activities for qualitative studies in collaboration with University of California, San Francisco. Her primary research interest is the development of community-informed and led interventions to improve HIV prevention and care outcomes. Her MPH research will be a qualitative study exploring the role of social support in viral suppression among adolescents and young adults living with HIV (YLH) in Homabay county, Kenya. Ms. Maeriā€™s primary mentors are Dr. Zachary Kwena (KEMRI), Dr. Kristin Beima-Sofie (UW), Prof. Grace John Stewart (UW), and Prof. Carol Camlin (UCSF).
