5/9/2012 Summer Events and Marketing Intern – Part-Time (15-20 hrs/wk) Lifelong AIDS Alliance is a non-profit community agency committed to preventing the spread of HIV, providing practical support services and advocating for those whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS JOB DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Special Events Manager, Communications Manager, and Special Events Recruiter the Events and Marketing Intern is responsible for assisting with participant recruitment, community relationship building, and marketing support in support of Lifelong AIDS Alliance’s annual season of special events. The intern will work as part of the Development Team. This is a 15-20 hour a week unpaid internship position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required within set hourly schedule. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide assistance in the coordination of public outreach and recruitment in support of Lifelong’s Seattle HIV/AIDS Walk and other special events. • General duties for each event to include: o Assist Special Events Manager and Special Events Recruiter with event outreach Coordinate mailings and recruitment material packets Assist with data collection and spreadsheet management Research new potential outreach opportunities and event partners Follow up with partners via phone, email, and site visits as needed o Assist Communications Manager Generate, respond, and track event related social media posts on Facebook and Twitter Update media distribution lists Track media coverage and update PR log Track marketing proof of performance Compile marketing wrap-up books post-event o Assist with street team outreach coordination Execute street team outreach plan Work with volunteer team to plan and execute outreach events Lead volunteer groups and create necessary instructions Ensure packing of necessary volunteer materials o Assist with post-event monetary and data collection Assist with data collection and management of post-event information Follow-up with partners over phone and email as needed o Assist with coordination of event details Assist with carrying out of event logistics Run errands and procure event supplies as needed Assist with clerical support Assist with the creation of special projects ORGANIZATIONAL CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Attend and participate in team meetings • Remain active in the recruitment and appreciation of volunteers. • Demonstrate ability to work effectively and productively with others (including supervisors, colleagues, volunteers and clients) • Regular and reliable attendance, with regular and reliable hours as defined by your supervisor • Commitment to the HIV/AIDS issue and to the work of Lifelong AIDS Alliance • Maintain confidentiality of financial, donor, and client records QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum third-year college student currently matriculated. Marketing or Communications degree students preferred. • Demonstrated ability to assist with the supervision, training, and coordination of volunteers. • Able to organize, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment. • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy. 12/6/2007 • Possess an understanding of professional boundaries • Demonstrated skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel and Word • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Comfort with public speaking and public outreach • Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment • Ability to respond quickly to change • Ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external customers • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk up one flight of stairs. • Valid Washington State Driver’s License • Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include occasional evenings and weekends Candidates for employment at Lifelong should be aware that this is a unique work environment in which topics of sexuality and sexual orientation are an integral part of our everyday prevention and care work and are often discussed openly.
