Hand2Hand at the University of Washington is a pre-health community service club dedicated towards promoting health and education for the underserved, with an emphasis on youth and homelessness, in the Greater Seattle Area. As a club we volunteer through numerous organizations such as Solid Ground, FullLife Adult Day Care Center, Jubilee Women’s and many more. Every year we host our annual Health Career Banquet during Spring Quarter. What is Health Career Banquet? The 4th Annual Health Career Banquet hosted by UW Hand2Hand is an educational dinner for UW students to interact and connect with local physicians, pharmacists, dentists and other health professionals. Our goal for the dinner is to expand the knowledge of the student attendees as we work to pair students with a medical professional in a specialty of their interest (such as Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Surgery, etc.). The event will also include two keynote speakers: Dr. Raghu Mudumbai, MD UW Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology – Speaking about his work abroad in undeserved minority populations running glaucoma and eye screenings for those who have little to no access to healthcare. Dr. Judd Walson, MD, MPH UW Assistant Professor of Global Health, Medicine & Pediatrics UW Adjunct Assistant Professor of Epidemiology – Speaking about his inspirational path to medicine in the face of adversity, along with his work in Kenya and Nepal.
