The University Of Edinburgh – Fall 2012 (fwd)

Student applications for Fall 2012 to Study Veterinary Medicine at Edinburgh

Dear Colleagues,

It is that time of year when students are getting ready for the summer break and are beginning to think about their options for Veterinary School. At the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, the University or Edinburgh, we are now in the home straight for our clinical year and expect to graduate about 135 students in early July. The hope is that some of your students will consider the Edinburgh option in their applications for vet school and be part of our graduating class of 2016. As you will know the R(D)SVS is fully AVMA accredited.

We have now completed our major building programme at the Easterbush Veterinary Centre and our state-of-the-art new teaching building is already in use. Equally exciting is the opening of the new Roslin Institute building. This means we now have one of the leading veterinary and animal bioscience campuses in the world with a wonderful opportunity of integrating teaching, clinical practice and research all on one self-contained site. Visit our websites for more information on the new facilities http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/vet & http://www.roslin.ed.ac.uk/

We now have a large cohort of USA and Canadian students on course at Edinburgh and they have become an integral part of student life at the Dick Vet. They are achieving excellent results in the NAVLE and are very successful in obtaining internships and top quality positions back home. Many are deciding to take advantage of their 2 year post-graduation work permit to work as veterinarians in the UK, while others are using our international accreditation and the reputation of our degree to get jobs as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

At Edinburgh we are fully committed to attracting the best North American students to our programmes and your assistance in directing your students to consider Edinburgh as one of their options is much appreciated. We are developing close inks with many USA and Canadian institutions as part of the University of Edinburgh’s global out-reach programme and Edinburgh has become the #1 choice for USA and Canadian students to wishing to study abroad.
