Osteopathic Blue Ribbon Commission Announced

New Blue Ribbon Commission Announced

The U.S. health care system, already challenged to address the issues of access, consistent quality of care, equity and costs, is facing a “perfect storm” in coming decades, requiring us to engage in new thinking about health care delivery and the education of physicians. Recognizing this, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) are pleased to announce the establishment of a Blue Ribbon Commission (BRC) to identify unique opportunities for the osteopathic profession to offer leadership in medical education so as to improve the health of the U.S. population in the 21st century.

The BRC builds on and is the next logical step after Medical Education Summits I and II; it will convene and carry out its work over the next 12-18 months, with its first meeting in June 2011 in Oak Brook, Ill. Read the attached joint AOA-AACOM announcement for more on the BRC http://www.mmsend6.com/link.cfm?r=163531417&sid=13681564&m=1363877&u=OSTEO_ DR&s=http://www.osteopathic.org/inside-aoa/news-and-publications/blogs/daily -report-blog/Documents/BRC.pdf> .

Best regards,

Gina
