Be a Tutor-Mentor: EDUC 401 L & M

This Autumn Quarter, 2016, UW’s Academic Support Programs is pairing pre-health juniors, seniors, and graduates with transfer, freshman, and sophomore students who are considering careers in healthcare and are also transitioning socially, culturally, and academically to the UW. This is a great opportunity for seasoned pre-health students to “pay it forward” and share their knowledge and experience with students who need a little extra support at the very start of their academic journeys.

As part of the program, you will participate in a service-learning seminar titled “EDUC 401: Higher Education Tutoring and Mentorship.” This weekly seminar will introduce you to tutoring, mentoring, and teaching methodologies that you will apply to your work with your own mentee.

  • Seminar meets on Mondays from 3:30-4:50 PM or from 6:00-7:20 PM
  • Tutoring takes place on campus
  • Receive 2 credits for working with one student, or 3 credits for working with two students
  • A letter of recommendation will be available upon request after completion of the seminar
