(Anticipated) Frequently Asked Questions

How do you define environmental stewardship?

We define environmental stewardship quite broadly. We include any organization that conserves, manages, cares for, monitors, advocates for, or educates the public about local environments. We do this intentionally because we want to highlight and acknowledge many different strategies that can be taken in environmental work.

What is "stewardship turf?"

We think of an organization's stewardship "turf" as the area in which that organization conducts stewardship activity. In the survey, we asked each organization where they had worked in the past year, and used these descriptions to draw the boundaries that you see on the maps. For some organizations, the displayed area represents the boundaries of all of their activies or area of focus. For others, it demonstrates the location of their specific projects.

How can I add my organization's information to Stew-MAP?

We're currently working on building the capacity for organizations to add their information and make this resource more complete. Is there a place that I can download this data?

Why are there no maps for some organizations?

In the organization description, if the "Where" field says "(not provided)", that organization did not provide a description of were they work. If the "Where" field does not say "(not provided)", please refresh the page and select the organization again. If this doesn't work, please contact us and let us know which organization is not loading properly so that we can fix it.
