SMALL INTESTINE AND APPENDIX
Case #4 -
A 61 year old with crampy mid-abdominal pain

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
7.) If treating conservatively, what are the indications for operation?

If managing a patient conservatively, the patient should be frequently evaluated including symptoms, vital signs, volume status, and abdominal examination. If there is failure to improve over 24-48 hours or if signs of bowel compromise develop, the patient should undergo surgery.
