LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  1. Be able to define systemic inflammatory response syndrome, sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock.
  2. Be able to list basic laboratory tests required along with expected findings in sepsis.
  3. Be able to describe the basic management of sepsis.
  4. Be able to outline management of persistent hypotension or oliguria in septic shock.
  5. Be able to list complications of septic shock.
