A 55 year old man with wound drainage 6 days postop

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
5.) What tests will you do to determine the location of the fistula?

Investigations appropriate in this patient may include the following:

a. Fistulogram - water soluble material into tract to see length and

location of the fistula

b. Small bowel follow through to see location of fistula and to rule out

distal obstruction

c. Gastrografin enema to evaluate the colon to rule out obstruction

d. CT scan to see any underlying or associated abscess
