A 55 year old man is now 6 days postoperative following laparotomy for small bowel obstruction. At the time of that procedure there were dense adhesions involving most of the small bowel which were lysed. Three enterotomies occurred which were repaired primarily. He now is noted to have a small amount of serous drainage from his midline incision with minimal surrounding cellulitis. On opening the skin, this drainage appeared to be coming from the peritoneal cavity. Over the next few hours this drainage became green in color.
