Goals and Objectives

  • Further develop knowledge of cardiothoracic disease and enhance the ability to manage comprehensively the problems encountered in cardiac and thoracic surgery patients.
  • Participate in patient care (including diagnosis, preoperative and postoperative care) and learn about the cardiopulmonary hemodynamics.
  • Gain exposure to a wide variety of both cardiac and thoracic disease entities and participate in both open heart and thoracic procedures in the operating room.
  • Develop polished skills in the clinical assessment of vascular heart disease and the EKG diagnosis of arrhythmias.

Visiting Students: No less than six weeks prior to the start of the rotation, please ensure that you have provided all the information that was requested in your VSLO offer letter. Additionally, please advise the site coordinator who your completed grade evaluation should be returned to following the completion of your rotation.
