Who usually Creates Pollution?

Well, the answer to that could only be humans. Believe it or not, the natural world would be fine without us. Tanya's favorite poem is by Sara Teasdale, "There will Come Soft Rains," which comments on this subject:

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,

And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pools singing at night,

And wild plum-trees in tremulous white;

Robins will wear their feathery fire

Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

And not one will know of the war, not one

Will care at last when it done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree

If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,

Would scarcely know that we were gone.

~ Sara Teasdale

Is water pollution socially acceptable?

•  Is water pollution socially acceptable in our society? When you see a person drop a cigarette butt on the ground, do you care? In some ways people littering or leaving a soda bottle by the river does not bother us, because we know we have done it before.

•  However, it shouldn't be! We should change our attitudes towards polluting our environment, and since we are the next generation, our society will eventually realize that littering is not acceptable at all.

How many types of water pollution are there in Chico?

  • Groundwater Pollution is caused by industry like dry cleaners where toxic chemicals seep into the groundwater supply. It affects our drinking water and the citizen's well water here in Chico. There is also surface pollution that makes our waters look less beautiful than they are, and we can no longer use it for recreational activities.
