Michele Bedard-Gilligan

Faculty

Dr. Bedard-Gilligan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. She received her PhD from the UW in 2009 and has been faculty since 2012.

Dr. Bedard-Gilligan’s research focuses on mechanisms of recovery in PTSD, with emphases on treatment outcome, mechanisms of change in recovery from trauma, and the co-occurrence of PTSD, alcohol use, and cannabis use disorders. She is also involved in research around testing and disseminating evidence based treatments for PTSD in low resource U.S. and international settings.

She maintains an active clinical practice and specializes in empirically supported treatments for PTSD and other anxiety disorders at the University of Washington Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. She is involved in training and supervising individuals in the use of empirically supported treatments for PTSD and other disorders through the UW Psychology Department and the UW School of Medicine Psychology and Psychiatry Residency Programs.
