We are examining the use of financial information in executive compensation.

Student Outcomes

Deep understanding of the company’s mandatory disclosure, Thorough understanding of GAAP and Non-GAAP financial measures, learning how to find useful information from public resources, becoming familiar with qualitative research using public data, tremendous hands-on research experiences, and may be eligible for up to 10 independent study credits.

Student Qualifications

Require detail-oriented data collection skills, Have an interest in financial accounting in general and financial accounting research in particular, self-motivated, committed to fast-paced and intensive data collection tasks.

Student Responsibilities

Collect compensation data from the company’s disclosure “of the proxy statement; and collect the financial data from the earnings press release. A one-quarter commitment on this research project is required, longer time commitments are preferred. The length of the project depends on student’s pace and availability. I do not require a fixed number of hours per week but the bi-weekly online meeting may be necessary to check RA’s progress. I am currently at Hong Kong Polytechnic University so students will be supervised using remote technologies.
