This project will collect financial data for IPO firms during pre-IPO years using SEC filings, which will be provided. Research assistants’ goals are to identify and analyze IPO firms’ financial data in the pre-IPO period.

Student Outcomes

Students will become familiar with SEC filings for IPO firms. This project will help students acquire enormous knowledge about IPO firms’ financial statements in the pre-IPO period. Learn how to look for useful information from public resources. Student researchers will engage in quantitative research using public data.

Student Qualifications

Require detail-oriented data collection skills, have an interest in financial accounting in general and financial accounting research in particular, self-motived, and commit to this research at least for one quarter.

Student Responsibilities

Read IPO proxy statements and the footnotes of the financial statements in the proxies. Find and collect key financial data. The time frame is one quarter. The length of the project depends on the student’s pace and availability. I do not require a fixed number of hours per week but the bi-weekly meeting may be necessary to check RA’s progress. I am currently at Hong Kong Polytechnic University so students will be supervised using remote technologies.
