Project Goals : How does plant diversity help communities deal with climate change and drought stress? We use a model plant organism to understand how genetic diversity and trait diversity relate to ecosystem function. These ecological questions have implications to agriculture and natural resource management in a time of rapid global change.
Student Responsibilities : Sow and plant seeds, measure plant traits, collect plant and soil samples, analyze data
Additional information : Independent Student Projects: Students (particularly sophomores and juniors) who are interested in pursuing an independent research project in plant ecology are also encouraged to contact me! I have several opportunities and projects for motivated students who are interested in dedicating multiple quarters on an independent research project. We can work together to find something that fits your interests! Funding opportunities would also be available for interested students via fellowships such as Mary Gates Foundation.
