Molecular Mechanisms for Susceptibility to HIV

The push and pull of inflammation on HIV susceptibility: impact of host variation in CD101 and AXL (Push/Pull Study, Lingappa, PI)

Use samples from ICRC repository, and other studies of HIV acquisition to test the idea that, in the context of high exposure to the virus, HIV risk can be approximated by quantifying gene variants in the gene AXL that are associated with protection from HIV, balanced by those in the gene CD101 that are associated with risk of HIV.
