Head StART Study (O’Laughlin, PI)

Head StART logo

Head StART is a trial comparing community-based antiretroviral therapy (ART) delivery models to facility-based ART delivery for people newly diagnosed with HIV in refugee settlements in Uganda. In this study we are evaluating the effect on HIV viral suppression of these two different ART delivery models. Optimizing HIV care engagement in refugee settlements in Uganda is very important as despite freely available HIV services and ART, people newly diagnosed with HIV in this unique setting have suboptimal rates of ART initiation, adherence, and viral suppression.
