Call for Submissions
The editors of Manifest West #6: Women of the West want your best work describing and expressing this titular theme. We are seeking voices from all perspectives and walks of life in the West to contribute to our collection of poems, short stories, creative nonfiction essays, and cover artwork.
We encourage you to explore a broad understanding of the Western woman, regardless of whether it defies or reinforces expectations. We want to hear about women from every race, religion, and sexual orientation; their experiences in the culture, landscape, and geography of the West are rich and important to share together. Show us how you see all types of women and the West interacting and influencing one another.
The bulk of our literary journal is built of your writing, but for the first time, Manifest West seeks to showcase your visual art. We are seeking high-quality scans or photographs of any visual medium – drawing, painting, sculpture, and more – that reflects the theme of Women of the West for our front and back covers. Color artwork is preferred, but please feel free to submit black-and-white, as well. Our preliminary vision for the cover is a cover-proportionate set of quadrants, perhaps each showing a different woman in the West or the same woman, with each quarter of her face representing a different type of woman in the West. Please show us your take, or a different idea entirely!
