Events + Marketing Internship – UW School of Art, Art History, Design

The Events + Marketing Intern will have a unique opportunity to assist with social media, events, and building relationships with donors, students, and alumni.

The intern will earn credit for this experience. Two credits equal six hours of work per week. Three credits equal nine hours of work per week. These are averages; there will be variation week to week.
We are seeking someone who can commit to the entire academic year.

Although we’d love someone in their Junior year, we are open to anyone who is excited about this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft social media posts for the School’s Facebook and/or Twitter accounts
  • Work on the School’s Instagram account periodically and help with organizing takeovers
  • May take photos and/or videos of School activities
  • May draft School press releases in MailChimp
  • Design/layout of promotional materials
  • Assist with setup and take down at select School events
  • Create event posters using a template
  • Learn to use the UW’s alumni and donor database for research support
  • Prepare and mail donor correspondence

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
  • Availability to work at late afternoon and evening events, typically two to four per quarter
  • Excellent communication skills, especially writing
  • Familiarity with digital media and social networking tools
  • Competence with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Willingness to learn new technology and database skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Some photography experience
  • Experience in event planning and/or coordination
