Summer Camp Instructor

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Summer Camp Instructor develops and teaches BAM Summer Camps. The goal of BAM’s camp programs is to actively engage youth in the exploration of art, craft, and design in a fun camp environment. This position works closely with the Director of Learning & Public Programming and the Summer Camp Assistants to plan all aspects of BAM Summer Camps, including logistics, curriculum, classroom management, art projects, and other camp activities and games. All camp projects and art activities should relate to BAM’s mission and exhibitions as much as possible, and should include gallery explorations throughout the Museum. The themes (listed below) have been chosen as they have been popular in the past, but there is no set curriculum or prescribed projects. The Instructor will have the freedom to create their own plan, projects, and daily schedule. The Instructor is responsible for leading Summer Camp programs by engaging kids in fun, new, and challenging art projects and other activities throughout the week. They must be able to communicate consistently and effectively with parents about camp activities and any behavioral issues that arise, including the creation of a daily newsletter for parents.

Docents & Tours Coordinator

SCOPE OF POSITION

Bellevue Arts Museum seeks a Docents & Tours Coordinator to join our Education team in the spring of 2020. This position will act as the primary staff liaison to our experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated group of docents. The Docents & Tours Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Director of Learning & Public Programming and Docent Leadership to establish goals, policies, and vision for the Docent Program. This person will also coordinate the daily activities of the docents (including meetings & trainings), as well as all aspects of docent-led tours for ages pre-K to adult. This position requires a person who is a strong and empathetic communicator, and an enthusiastic museum educator.

Summer KIDSfair Internship

DESCRIPTION

Bellevue Arts Museum is seeking an individual for an internship in the Education Department. This person would assist with a wide range of planning and coordinating duties for KIDSfair, a three-day free event in association with Bellevue Arts Museum ARTSfair. KIDSfair takes place at the Museum and annually draws 10–12,000 visitors, mostly children, to participate in hands-on art making activities hosted by the Museum and community partners. This intern will work closely with the Education Coordinator and ARTSfair Producer to plan organize activities, coordinate with community partners and volunteers, and run logistics for the event. The internship offers excellent experience for individuals interested in museum education, family programs, arts learning, and public programming. Bellevue Arts Museum will work with students to provide educational opportunities that meet college requirements. We encourage interns to seek academic credit for their internship and will assist in any way to help the intern receive it. Check with your advisor or department chair to inquire about your school’s requirements.
