SAF Summer Programs Design Instructor

The Seattle Architecture Foundation connects people to the architecture, design, and history of Seattle. We believe the more you engage with design, the more you feel connected to your changing city. As a volunteer driven organization, we provide programs which will empower you to make a difference in your community.
Project Description
SAF serves students through after-school and summer programs at middle schools throughout the greater Seattle area, providing workshops designed to connect students to the built environment through hands-on design and modeling projects. Our teachers work on-site at local public and private schools with the assistance of local architects. Current school partners are: Asa Mercer International MS, Denny International MS McClure MS, Washington MS, Open Window School, and The Northwest School.
Qualifications
• 1-2 years of experience working with middle or high school students
• Some study, practice, or demonstrable interest related to architecture, design, urbanism, and/or civic engagement
• Commitment to working within a racial, gender, and class equity framework
• Willing to submit to background check
Basic Expectations
• Attend any school orientation sessions and lunch time and evening recruitment events (paid) as available
• Lead lessons and activities on-site at SAF partnered schools
• Participate in trainings and planning sessions by SAF
• Support and delegate to SAF Volunteers in the classroom
