Position Summary
The Frye Art Museum seeks a Production Lead. The lead will assist the Director of Architecture and Public Spaces with research, planning, production, and installation of exhibition elements and other design upgrades to the museum’s public-facing areas. This position will also maintain and improve the shop, prep, and storage areas.

Key Responsibilities
Planning 30%
- Research methods and materials related to exhibition and interior design projects
- Procure materials necessary for exhibition and interior design components and gallery reconfigurations
- Plan and maintain comprehensive production schedules to ensure timely exhibition and interior design components completion.
- Format and test audio and visual files for compatibility and hardware integration
Design 30%
- Generate precise drawings for museum furniture as well as other exhibition and interior design components, ensuring all specifications meet design requirements
- Generate floorplan maps and three-dimensional CAD renderings of design components and layouts
- Produce scaled images and maquettes for the museum model.
Implement 30%
- Utilize a range of tools and techniques to construct exhibition and interior design components per design specifications
- In conjunction with the installation team, oversee packing/unpacking and installation/de-installation of 2-d, 3-d, and media-based artworks.
- Oversee the installation of exhibition components and interior design components
Maintain 10%
- Maintain and make improvements to the woodshop, A.V. Cage, pedestal storage, and back-of-house
- Maintain tool and supplies inventory
Desired Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
- Hand tools such as drills, circular saws, and sanders
- Fixed woodshop tools such as the table saw and chop saw
- Familiarity with archival materials and best museum practices
- Lightweight rigging and overhead suspension
- V.formatting and hardware installation, including projectors and sound systems
- Pedestal, cabinetry, and other museum design and fabrication
- Wall building and demolition
- Wall finishing and painting
- Shop Maintenance and organization
- Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Photoshop, SketchUp
Education and Experience
- Minimum two years of experience preparing and installing exhibits in a museum setting

Work Conditions
Work areas are inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light background noise. Work is occasionally performed at other indoor and outdoor event sites. Shift times may vary to meet the museum’s requirements for staffing the facilities and events. Work may require weekend and evening hours and extended periods of attendance at museum events.
Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions
- Ability to converse and exchange information for effective communication.
- Remaining in a stationary location, standing or sitting, and occasionally moving through the museum, which is wheelchair accessible.
- Regular operation of computer systems and other office equipment such as phones and printers.
- Capacity to stay on-site for extended durations during museum programs and events.
