SAM seeks Education Coordinator
OVERVIEW: Coordinate and assist all Education and Public Engagement programs including supporting administration, communications, marketing, event facilitation and outreach. Work collaboratively with the Education team to provide excellent and equitable programming for diverse audiences.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Education
COMPENSATION: $20-22 hourly rate DOE; 35 hours per week
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide excellent administrative support to the activities of the Education department including educator support, statistics and reporting, budget management, database entry, outreach & marketing coordination, contracting, and providing educators with warm, welcoming, flexible communication.
- Support the docent program by managing docent schedules, including training and teaching and special events, and other support as determined by the Associate Director of Education.
- Manage educator database; pursue a variety of ways of expanding connections to schools, teachers, families, and community organizations.
- Work directly with groups visiting the museum as assigned; provide welcome and orientation to arriving groups. On occasion, leads groups through museum galleries and spaces; supports
- Support educational marketing and communications efforts; compiles education content for eblasts, social media, and other marketing materials as assigned.
- Act as liaison between Education and other museum departments and divisions.
- Maintain office procedures: respond to emails, provide information to the public/members/volunteers/staff/trustees, organize documents and materials, supplies, mail, creating spreadsheets, drafting correspondence, meeting minutes, agendas, memos, etc.
- Prepare statistics on attendance, revenue, expenses, etc. for Education statistics, grant reports, and presentations.
- Perform special projects, work additional hours and other duties that support events and programs across the division, as assigned.
- QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- BA/BS or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- 2+ years relevant, professional work experience, preferably in a not-for-profit or education setting.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and to project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
- Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy using MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and other software programs; ability to utilize various systems and databases including SharePoint, Tessitura, and museum databases.
- Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to assess priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Must have excellent time management, problem solving, and analytic skills and be able to work independently and in a team setting. Demonstrated ability to routinely take a proactive approach to problem resolution.
- Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work with members, the public, and co-workers professionally and tactfully, to adhere to Museum policies, and to support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
