The UW Leaders Program was officially
formed and passed by the ASUW Board of Directors in 1999. The
program was headed by the then current ASUW Vice-President Ivan
Barron, and ASUW members Michael Tuncap (2000 Vice President),
and John Amaya (2001 Student Regent). Approval was later established
by the University Board of Regents to directly make UW Leaders
an ASUW entity. This program was formed with the intent to enhance
leadership skills, and mold undergraduates into one day becoming
student government officials in ASUW. However, as the program
slowly began to develop the intent changed. Currently, students
are no longer solely limited to the opportunities within the ASUW.
As result of this change, it has opened up many other opportunities
for other programs and services within the campus and the University
community. |
