What is UW Leaders?

The purpose of the UW Leaders Program is to provide opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and community service for freshmen, sophomores, and newly transferred juniors at the University of Washington.

In order for students to attain a comprehensive understanding of leadership, service, and civic responsibility, the UW Leaders Program will take students through the process of:

Learning Leadership, Practicing Leadership, and Sharing Leadership.

This process will include:

Weekly meetings every Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m. during Winter and Spring quarter. Meetings will include speakers from the campus and greater community, with activities following the speaker that are designed to further instill the various facets of leadership. Each weekly meeting will focus on a different principle of leadership and the emphasis will be on learning in a fun environment.

A mandatory retreat will be held the second weekend of Winter Quarter, January 7-9, where the focus will be on fostering relationships with other participants in the program, and to set goals for the coming year.

Involvement with a campus club, committee, or activity in which participants in the UW Leaders program will have a chance to take on leadership roles within the campus or general community to implement the skills learned at weekly meetings.
