Core Curriculum
All pre and postdoctoral trainees supported by the program are required to fulfill the Core Curriculum described below. Course fees will be waived as part of the training grant fellowship.
Required Attendance
- Principles of STD and AIDS Research (Two-three week course usually held in July each year, trainees are required to attend once)
- UW Biomedical Research Integrity Series (Held during summer, trainees are required to attend one full series)
- STD & AIDS Research Symposium (Held each fall)
- STD & AIDS Training Program Winter Dinner (Held each winter)
- Allergy & Infectious Diseases Research Retreat held jointly by Allergy & Infectious Diseases Division each winter/spring (For ID Fellows only)
- STD and AIDS Training Program Retreat (Held annually each spring)
- Survival Skills for the Research Years (Held each late summer)
- Focused research conference, seminars, and symposia relevant to trainees’ area of research*
- MD trainees will receive clinical training experience in STD, HIV/AIDS, and HIV/viral hepatitis clinics
