Double Sided Printing Changes

Sept 21, 2009

Computing Lab Managers,

Please help us this Autumn quarter by switching your printing defaults to 2-sided. This will help us meet the requirements of House Bill 2287, which was recently signed by Governor Gregoire. The bill asks all state funded agencies to reduce their paper consumption by 30% over the next year. The bill also requires that state agencies use 100% recycled paper in all copiers and printers. A Purchasing Bid has just been accepted, and you will begin to see your Dawg Prints orders filled with 100% recycled paper in the next months.

In the Libraries and the 2 large labs on the Seattle campus (OUGL Commons and Mary Gates), the change to double sided will be released at the beginning of the Autumn quarter. We would like to ask all other labs on campus to follow their lead by implementing this change in your next image release. 2 sided print packages for your location will be available at the end of the week from our website, http://dawgprints.washington.edu.

Please notify our Dawg Prints support team (uwschelp@uw.edu) when you are able to re-image, and they will be able to add new pop-up windows notifying clients that their job has been sent 2-sided to prevent any confusion.

There will also be additional information on the Dawg Prints home page, the Dawg Prints Alerts site, various lab home pages, and the Access+ home page alerting users of this change. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Lonnie Eisenbarth
