Our Solicitation Policy

At the D Center, our first goal is to create a safe space for Disabled and Deaf students at UW. We believe that sharing advertisements in our spaces that target Disabled and Deaf folks for solicitation directly opposes this goal. Repeated exposure to content that asks something of Disabled and Deaf folks can be distressing if unwanted, so we do our best to keep these out of our main spaces.

However, we do want to help researchers complete projects that are best representative of the Disabled and Deaf communities, as well as helping those seeking volunteers or employees to reach a group that is often underrepresented in the workplace. In order to help connect willing community members to accessible and culturally productive research, projects, and workplaces, we have created an opt-in email subscription for those looking for opportunities. We have also created an opportunity intake form and rubric for those looking to disperse their advertisements. If an opportunity passes our intake requirements, we disperse it to the emails subscribed to this letter.
