Training Initiatives
WSDS provides information, training, technical assistance, and resources
to families and educators statewide regarding individuals from birth to
age 21 with sensory disabilities (hearing loss, vision impairment, and
deaf-blindness). We provide training (including birth-to-three topics) in
a variety of venues throughout the year. Training audiences include
parents and birth-to-three service providers from developmental
disabilities and neurodevelopmental centers, school district/ESD programs,
and other settings.

The Autism Outreach Project offers training in autism spectrum disorders through three formats:
- Regional training. Each year, the Autism Outreach Project hosts a number of workshops on
autism spectrum disorders across the state. Workshop topics include disability awareness,
effective early intervention strategies, communication, social skills, assessment, behavior,
and more. For a complete training list, visit our website or contact the Autism Outreach
Project, to request a training catalog.
- Training upon request. Early intervention providers may schedule a training specific to
their agency’s needs.
- Combined Summer Institute. The Combined Summer Institute is an annual weeklong conference with
a focus on the early intervention and education of autism spectrum disorders, deaf/hard of hearing,
blind/visual impairments, and significant disabilities.
