2014 PAG Scholarship Application

The PKU Action Group has established a scholarship for Washington State high school students with PKU. Scholarship awards range from $250 to $500, depending on the number of qualified applicants.

All seniors with PKU graduating from a Washington State high school in 2014 with good academic standing who have received acceptance to an accredited institution are encouraged to apply. Accredited institutions include: four-year colleges, two-year colleges, community colleges, and vocational or technical colleges. High school seniors who meet these criteria and who send a completed application to the PKU Action Group will be considered. The scholarship money may only be applied to educational expenses, such as tuition, textbooks, room and board, or course related fees.

Applications must be received by July 31, 2014. Scholarship recipients will receive their award by mail as soon as proof of enrollment has been received by the PKU Action Group. Proof of enrollment can include a copy of a dorm assignment, class schedule, tuition payment receipt, or other documentation as available. If proof of enrollment is not available at the time of application, please mail it as soon as possible.

An application can be obtained by telephone at 206-598-1800, by email at pkujan@uw.edu.

Another week at Camp Sealth approaches...

PKU Camp at Camp Sealth is an annual occurrence at Camp Fire USA's delightful Camp Sealth on Vashon Island. Sealth is a residential camp that runs throughout the summer for week-long overnight sessions, with all the perks of a good old-fashioned summer camp! Activities at Sealth include but are not limited to limitless fun and games, nature discovery sessions, arts and crafts, volleyball, soccer, archery, canoeing, rowing and funyaking, hikes, horseback riding, swimming, overnights, and the well-loved theme meals, all-camp games and traditions!

The dedicated UW clinic staff works throughout the year to prepare a delicious low-protein menu that is similar to that served by the Sealth kitchen, ensuring the nutritional needs of camp's PKU campers are met and their camp experience seamlessly integrated with that of the other campers. In collaboration with Campfire and the PKU Action Group, the clinic staff do all they can to assist campers financially. The campers and staff alike always have a blast at camp. We hope you'll join us!

This year, PKU camp will be July 29 - August 2, 2014.

If you are interested in signing up, contact the Campfire Registration Office directly at (206) 461-8550 or (800) 451-CAMP ext. 247 sealthinfo@campfire-usa.org.
