Abstract: Inventory and monitoring are two essential steps in the development of a scientifically based resource protection strategy for the National Park Service. Data collection must be conducted in a statistically valid manner following a prescribed methodology. This project has been initiated to facilitate design of scientifically credible sampling objectives, design, and analysis. Resource specialists from parks within the North Coast and Cascades Network will consult with University statisticians to jointly develop credible sampling protocols and data analysis.
