As you will see, we now have official Statistical Genetics Certificate alumni. The certificate is open to all matriculated graduate students of the UW who complete the StatGen curriculum but are not in the StatGen PhD pathways of Stat and Biostat. I believe there may be Biostat students who are eligible -- please bring this to their attention. The Graduate School registers the award of this certificate, but says that programs should award their own physical certificates. So I am asking for a suitable design for a certificate, in an electronically producible format. Something similar to the Departmental award certificates which some of you may know, maybe, but reflecting the StatGen program. The file -- in a format suitable for generating new certificates for each student who completes the program -- should be submitted by December 10, 2003, to thompson@stat.washington.edu. A small monetary prize will be awarded: volunteers to judge the submissions are also welcomed. Group submissions are welcomed-- the group may divide the prize as it sees fit.
