2003:
  • September 21-23, 2003. The Second WORKSHOP in Statistical Genetics and Computational Molecular Biology for beginning and intending graduate students from the mathematical and computational sciences.
  • First official graduates of the Statistical PhD pathways in Statistics and Biostatistics, and of the Interdisciplinary Certificate Program, occurred in Summer, 2003.

2001:
  • On October 19, 2001: the Board of Regents approved the Statistical Genetics Certificate Program.
  • December 16-18, 2001. WORKSHOP in Statistical Genetics and Computational Molecular Biology for beginning and intending graduate students from the mathematical and computational sciences.
  • Summer 2001: WELCOME to Kathleen Kerr
    who has joined the faculty of the Department of Biostatistics
  • Spring 2001: CONGRATULATIONS to Mariza de Andrade
    (Biostatistics, Ph.D., 1990) who has been promoted to Associate Professor at the Mayo.
  • Spring 2001: CONGRATULATIONS to Heike Bickeboller
    Heike Bickeb"oller (Statistics Ph.D., 1993) has been appointed to a full C3 Professorship at University of G"ottingen, Germany, as head of a new Department of Genetic Epidemiology there.
  • Winter 2001: The Graduate School Council has voted unanimously to approve the Statistical Genetics Graduate Certificate program.
2000:
  • Fall 2000: The Graduate School has approved the Statistical Genetics Ph.D. tracks in Statistics and Biostatistics.
  • Fall 2000: Dr. Matthew Stephens has joined us as faculty in the Statistics Department. For a view of his recent work, see the recent Stephens and Donnelly RSS discussion paper.
  • Fall 2000: Dr. Andrew George, from the Roslin Institute, Edinburgh, has joined us in a post-doctoral position in the Statistics Department.
  • 2000-1 The core STAT/BIOST sequence in Statistical Genetics is being offered for the second time in 2000-1. Thanks to all of students for their comments, which insures its continuing development.
  • Fall 2000: Elizabeth Thompson's book Statistical Inferences from Genetic Data on Pedigrees is available.
