2002 YEA! Summit

On April 27 and 28, 2002, teens across Washington gathered to celebrate their role in driving down Washington’s teen pregnancy rates, which are now at an all-time low, and to plan their continuing efforts.

The teens discussed and presented media products they had developed and used throughout their schools and communities. They also showcased results from their successful media contests that produced winning entries in a wide variety of categories from public service announcements for radio and television to bus signs, posters, and T-shirts.

The group members not only looked at their past successes, they focused on the future. YEA! participants examined how they can contribute to further driving down the rate of teen pregnancy in their respective communities. Teens attending the Summit went home with many new ideas for future media based activities.
