The heroic efforts and accounts of the International Committee during the Nanking invasion were so enormous and impossible to list all here. Therefore, we chose to concentrate on the accounts of four very important individuals. First is John Rabe, Chairman of the International Committee and the guardian of the Safety Zone. Next is Rev. John Magee, the chairman of the International Red Cross Nanking Branch who took care of the wounded at the hospital and filmed some of them with his camera. Minnie Vautrin, who protected thousands of women from being raped as she took care of  the refugee camp at Ginling Women's Arts and Science College. Miner Searl Bates, a professor of History at the University of Nanking and a member of the International Committee. Some others, who had also contributed in this relief, include Professor of Sociology Lewis S. C. Smythe, head of the YMCA George A. Fitch, Reverend James McCallum, and Dr. Robert Wilson and Dr. C. S. Trimmer of the few medical doctors present at the time.
