Maggie Avener spent her undergraduate years studying environmental engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After graduating in 2007, she came straight to the University of Washington in pursuit of a master's degree with a focus on environmental fluid mechanics. Maggie's current research focuses on sediment transport in the Merrimack River plume. Outside of academia, her interests include cooperative living, community radio, cooking creative vegan food, and exploring the outdoors.
