Nse Ekpo

Nseobong E. Ekpo is band director at Bellevue Christian High School in Bellevue, Washington. Previous to this appointment he completed two years of study in the doctoral program in instrumental conducting at the University of Washington where he was a student of Timothy Salzman and Peter Eros. Mr. Ekpo earned a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting and the Bachelor of Music in Music Education at the University of South Carolina. While still an undergraduate, Ekpo founded the Sumter Chamber Orchestra (SC), now in its sixth season. In addition, he was the conductor of the College Street Brass Choir and Personnel Manager of the University of South Carolina Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Ekpo's primary conducting teachers were William Moody (wind conducting) and Donald Portnoy (orchestral conducting). He has participated in conducting master classes led by Fredrick Fennell, Anthony Maiello
and Harlan Parker, and has attended seminars with Gustav Meier. Also an accomplished clarinetist, Ekpo studied with Douglas Graham at the University of South Carolina.
